Coimbatore: Members of the Kashmir Makkalodu Kaikorpom Kootamaipinar addressed the media at the Coimbatore Press Club slamming the Centre for abolishing the special status granted to Kashmir which they felt was a democratic assassination and a veiled threat by the ruling BJP party.
"Various oppression and human rights violation are taking place in Kashmir and the present situation should be communicated through the media. The present status of the people residing in Kashmir is unknown and the Central Government's statement that peace is prevailing in Kashmir when the State leaders of Kashmir are under house arrest, is unbelievable," stated the members.
"We have urged the Tamil Nadu MPs to visit the State of Kashmir to assess situation and report to the public. The scrapping of Article 370 was done without public assent and to divert the economic downturn of the country," they said.

During the press conference, Partiban, in charge of the Anti-imperialist Movement, Revolutionary Youth Club trustee Ferosh Babu, Tamilar Kazhaga District In-charge Karthik, Dravida Kazhaga District President Nehru Das, VCK Party District Secretary Guru, CPI MLA and District In-charge Shanmugasundaram and members from 13 different organizations were present.
